Travelling to each project early in the morning I have been fascinated to see the children of Kolkata being escorted to the various schools. They all have distinctive uniforms - often including long white socks. Some are walking through the busy and crowded streets, still others are taken by human drawn rickshaw and bicycle drawn rickshaw. Others are lucky (?) enough to be taken by motorbike - I saw a father taking his 4 children to school by motorbike - 2 in front of him and 2 behind (no helmets to be seen). Other methods include the cross bar of a push bike, auto rickshaw and taxi.
These children represent only 10% of the city's child population, probably because parents have to pay the fees, the cost of the uniform and provide other resources.

Yes.
and a lot of the kids here in England, although not all. Take their (to the cost of tax payers) free education, and throw it right back, with all the disrespect and anti social gratitude of scum.
I know people of teachers who have been attacked, had chairs thrown at them, punched in the face (female teachers !!!) and even bitten.
